You cannot visit Aix en Provence without taking a walk on Cours Mirabeau.
Cours Mirabeau was in the olden days and still is the place to stroll and one of the most popular and busy place in the city, as both tourist and local people enjoy meandering along the green alleys. Along the Cours, you will discover numerous architectural gems, among which the bastides (traditional Provence houses) are a typical example of the art of living “a la Provencale”.
A stonethrow away from the town hall is the Mazarin district with its private mansions and gardens from the 18th century.
Take time to wander across the little squares and lanes of the old town, stop at the typical Provencal food market, and discover the numerous fountains, the Sextius steam baths, the Pavillon Vendôme, the Granet gallery…
